Unit Title: New Worlds- The Creative of Metaphoric Space

The brief was to understand how a stage set is an extension of the reality within a film through the chosen aesthetics, combining together objects and fabrications to explore the theme of ‘Psychological Terror’. Therefore we were required to create, a psychological impacting image in the set which creates a believable sense of reality .The aim of the project was to work in groups in order to plan and construct a conceptually stimulating scene. The idea of space is an extension of the narrative.  Creating a false sense of reality was a key aspect that we needed to incorporate according to the chosen theme. This therefore becomes a metaphorical extension of the psyche in a controlled environment. Someone in each group was allocated the job of scribe, recording the group’s reflections of visual ideas and chosen practical techniques to support the physical presence of the narrative. We were advised to make card models displaying our final idea. In our groups we were also required to produce a report focused on project management charts, including the allocation of tasks to group members and budget spread sheets. We were required to produce a technical manual and a group collection of technical drawings created using the programme Auto Cad which we would be assessed on individually and as a group.
